The bearberry Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is a well-known herbaceous plant which is familiar particularly to women. It promotes normal functioning of the bladder. It is distributed in Europe, on Siberia, in North America and Greenland. It is very rare in Czechia. The Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is an evergreen shrub of the Ericaceae family. The common names of this bearberry include Kinnikinnick and Pinemat manzanita. It is a procumbent groundcover shrub 20 – 100 cm high. It has been used in traditional medicine for treating urinary tract problems since the ancient times.
