Heart, vessels

The heart is a hollow muscle organ located in the chest which acts as a permanent pump, safeguarding, by its contractions, blood circulation throughout the body, which allows for tissue nutrition and metabolic processes.

A vessel is a tube-like formation which distributes body fluids throughout the body. A blood vessel may be an artery, a capillary or a vein. Arteries are of pink appearance and flexible like rubber upon touch; veins are bluish and softer than arteries. Lymphatic vessels are yellowish.
